Kamini Chauhan
Residency at Britto Arts Trust
Biography
Inspired by flowers and the fluidity of hot glass, Kamini Chauhan is becoming a renowned designer for her unique glassmaking. Kamini studied and trained both in the UK and Canada, before going on to study a Masters degree at the prestigious Royal College of Art, London. Whilst at the college, her first project was awarded the RSA Student Design award.
Kamini graduated in 2004, with a sell out show and has established her talents selling and exhibiting work in both Britain and abroad. Her debut at Chelsea Crafts Fair followed very shortly after her MA, where her talents were recognised and she was awarded the ‘Chelsea Crafts Fair 2004 First Time Exhibitor Award’.
Since then, Kamini has gone on teach at Buckingham Chilterns University, and in 2005 completed a commissioned glass installation, working collaboratively with a fellow artist for National Grid Transco Headquarters in Warwickshire. April 2006 saw Kamini complete ‘Fracture’, a light designed in collaboration and launched at the world renowned Milan Furniture Fair.
Kamini is currently based as both a part time Glass lecturer and technician, and a resident at Plymouth College of Art and Design as a recipient of the Crafts Council, Next Move Scheme, continuing to create and develope her collection.
