Still overwhelmed by the cultural differences (and particularly the dichotomy of individual creativity in a wider envionment of crushing poverty and deprivation) I've started working with found material. This is just starting to think - about sense of place, cycles of growth and ideas about design in response to a new culture. Leaves provided an easy source of material, close to my raw material for papermaking, but more immediate and malleable.
